Strange Evenings with a Night Off...

...waking up with lights off      ?

Salut ma petite. La tête était toujours confusé, c'est le chaos. j'ai aucune idée si ma grammaire ou la langue est vraiment correcte, mais tu comprends.

Let me start this story off with setting the scene. Sunday, Andrew left. Monday, I was supposed to be in my last hardcore day of orientation and was supposed to do a sort of "microteach" on some sort of lesson - I assume to prove that I understood 6 days worth of teaching orientation. So Sunday was a tad more on the difficult side, n'est-ce pas? Getting ready for microteach, Andrew leaves forever, I had to work on Angie's logo, it was cray.

Anyhow, Russ mentions Two Keys because Shane and a bunch of people were there. I was all about some Two Keys after that kind of day. By the time we get there, those that were there had definitely started on - I think I heard this correctly - $1 beers. We got things to drink, everyone was kind of just hanging out, it was great. Well then, some song comes on that must have reminded a couple of the boys - Shane and Russ in that grouping - of something I have heard Russ say before..."Gangnam Style" - this weird song that Andrew and Russ always kind of sang around that sounded like "open condom style". So Shane starts dancing at some sorority girls like the guy in the video, I thought it was hilarious, whatever.

Still hadn't heard the song or seen the video they were referencing. THEN TODAY I get on my google reader for the first time in god knows how long and I see this:

http://www.treehugger.com/corporate-responsibility/absurd-korean-pop-hit-gangam-style-actually-subversive-critique-consumerism.html

An article about this song?? STRANGE. Right? Maybe? Well, I think it's strange. Anyway, the article is pretty interesting. Talks about how this little gem got to be so popular and how it's a critique of consumerist culture. DEEP RIGHT.

Well, I hope you wake up to this video.

Logos, classes, and classes and classes

SALUT!

Juh mah pell Amelia. Como sah vah?

Como tah pell tew? Phonetics? Or just silly? WHO KNOWS. French not being phonetic really messes with those that take Spanish. LOOK OUT! The French don't much pronounce that last letter or sound! But you know this, I continue.

Second day of class, pas mal! Although I had a little trouble when asking them to repeat "plus fort!". Some had trouble with the fort. Oh well.

SO Russ and I made a logo for a dog clothing company! We are actually getting paid for it, too! Here is the design we made:

The pups are getting one-of-a-kind dog clothing designs from upcycled Goodwill clothes! Fantastique! It's a pretty great idea, I think. What do you think of the logo?

Well. I'm about to be in class from 2-6 learning about Pedagogy and then about Modernism. I LOVE FRANCH THINGS. The readings look pretty interesting, à mon avis.

alors, je t'aime ma petite. à bientôt!

Le Premier Jour...

I don't think I slept. I stayed up watching a Nat Geo Documentary with Russ called Guns, Germs, and Steel about the rise of Western and civilized culture. The main guy, a one Jared Diamond (whaaaaa?), was the primary guy and he is convinced that the reason the world is separated into "haves" and "have nots" can all be traced back to the crops we learned to cultivate and the animals we managed to domesticate. Though I say 'we' like we have ancestors in the fertile crescent....

Anyway. I woke myself up at like, 6:55 - 5 minutes before my first alarm was to go off. Except that my last and final alarm doesn't go off until 7:45...when I actually need to be awake. So here I am, already up and ready to teach! I've gotten ready, triple checked all of my supplies, and am about to go get fresh juice - for the first time since you left! - to start the day off right.

I have 27 students in my 101 class and I thought you should know that one of their names is Colton Charles something. Sounds like a name you might be into, no?

I got my ipad in the mail yesterday! I have my attendance and things on there. So organized will I be, I hope. Well my love. I hope your first day goes/went well.

SALUT TOUT LE MONDE! I WILL BE YOUR OVERLY EXCITED FRENCH 101 INSTRUCTOR!

I'm wearing your UK blue to add confidence. And hopefully get kids to like me. Though I shouldn't call them kids. I'm teaching in college before I'm old enough to have graduated. SO NERVOUS.

à bientôt!
